Well, I bet they did it right; it's just a design flaw. The problem is that only Lou Ferrigno, in character, would be strong enough to tighten those handlebars so that they don't jump out of alignment the minute a toddler turns the wheel. It's cute, but there is a major flaw: the handlebars are supposedly secured by a bolt that squeezes the base so tightly that the handlebars won't move. One might be able to fix it by adding washers (I have yet to try that) or by drilling into the metal and putting a bolt or screw through the handlebar mount and base so it can't move. I am a 40-year-old man generally regarded as VERY strong, and I tightened the bolt with all my strength; but the handlebars still jump out of alignment when my son turns the wheel. I've seen from these reviews that some grandmothers and teenagers are putting these together and saying they might not have done it right. Or, as one reviewer said, by going to a bike store to see if they can fix it. But is that what you expect to have to do with a brand new toy.
I think radio flyer was once called 'the american classic' or something like that. Well I bought two of these for my twins and I can tell you that the parts are poorly made, difficult to assemble properly, and feel very cheap. Spend the extra money and get something more solid than this, these are horrrible.
My 2yr loves this tricycle. It's easy to push and steer with the include telescopic rod. This tri is also a great exerciser for the kid an parent. As a cyclist myself I see great potenial for my little one as future cyclist and someone that will grow to enjoy outdoor activities. The tri is very sturdy and balanced and the retro look turns heads.
We got the tricycle for our 2 1/2 year old son, and he loves it. We have no problems with tipping over so far. The tricycle is very heavy duty and has a nice feel to it. We use the push bar more as a break, our son gets kind of fast and we hold on to it when we approach a street crossing, however I don't think if you have to use it as a push bar there are limits to it when it comes to curves.
Our granddaughter was excited about this new "bike".It is flashy, pretty, and appeals to young ones. It isn't as sturdy as we remember Radio Flyer products. I do worry about this aspect of the trike.
